Shoreline Eating Disorder Center

Founder's Statement

Dr. Joy Zelikovsky is a psychologist, educator, and clinical leader dedicated to transforming how we think about eating disorders, ethics, and authentic care.

When I first began working in the eating disorder field, I quickly learned that recovery is about so much more than food.

Behind every eating disorder is a person with a unique story. Often there is pain, perfectionism, anxiety, self-doubt, trauma, or a deep desire to feel safe and in control. While eating disorders can look similar on the surface, the experiences that drive them are rarely the same. I believe effective treatment must honor that complexity.

I founded Shoreline Eating Disorder Center with a simple but powerful vision: to create a space where individuals and families can access highly specialized, compassionate care that is both clinically sophisticated and deeply human.

Too often, people seeking treatment feel reduced to a diagnosis, a symptom checklist, or a number on a scale. I take a different approach. I believe recovery happens through connection, curiosity, and individualized care. My work is grounded in evidence-based treatment while recognizing that healing is not a one-size-fits-all process.

I am committed to providing weight-inclusive, affirming care that respects the dignity and lived experiences of every person who walks through my doors. I believe that people deserve support regardless of their body size, background, identity, or where they are in their recovery journey.

My experience across residential, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient levels of care has reinforced a belief that continues to guide my work today: lasting recovery is possible when people feel understood, supported, and empowered to reconnect with themselves and the lives they want to live.

It is an honor to walk alongside clients and families during some of life's most vulnerable moments. Whether you are taking the first step toward treatment or continuing a recovery journey that has felt long and complicated, I am here to provide expert guidance, compassionate support, and hope.

Thank you for trusting me with your care.
